If you have ever thought about starting your own business in Maine or
you have already begun you cannot afford to miss out on this
opportunity. Maine is a state that runs on the spirit of small business
and Project GATE can help you join in the dream of owning your own
business.
Maine has been selected as one of only three states in the country by
the U.S. Department of Labor to take part in this special project. What
does this mean? For people living in or around Portland, Lewiston or
Bangor, it means access to free training and resources that would
otherwise not be available. 500 Maine entrepreneurs are being sought to
take part in the project. Maine is full of small towns and big ideas
so help launch your big idea with a little extra help.

More About Project GATE
U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine L. Chao, has initiated Project GATE
(Growing America Through Entrepreneurship), a program designed to give
individuals interested in self-employment the training and support
needed to start and/or expand a small business. The U.S. Department of
Labor, Employment and Training Administration have teamed up with the
Small Business Administration to create an exciting new program to help
people create and expand small businesses. New businesses create jobs,
improve our community and expand the U.S. economy. Project GATE
Growing America Through Entrepreneurship has been designed to help
people like you who are interested in starting or expanding a business.
Many individuals have the motivation and skills to develop a small
business, but lack business expertise or access to financing. Project
GATE will assist these individuals by providing free business training,
one-on-one business counseling, and technical assistance to apply for
small business loans. Special emphasis will be placed on reaching
immigrants, rural populations, and low-income urban populations.
Project GATE does not discriminate on the basis of race, color,
religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual
orientation, disability and medical condition.
